THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Starting Thursday evening, Thomasville will welcome 30,000 people over the next three days to enjoy its 97th Annual Thomasville Rose Show Festival.
The free event kicks off with a parade through the Rose City. And WALB will be there for our Thomasville Road Show at 5:30.
This year there will be programs at the amphitheater, a live band downtown, and even a kissing llama.
And as for the Rose Parade, there are more entries than ever before.
Of course, some of the classic events include: seeing the rose tent located downtown, four different flower shows, and the street dance with the Swingin' Medallions.
All these events plus the staples fall under the new theme this year titled "Helping Hands: A celebration of community volunteers."
City of Thomasville Marketing Director Sarah Baggett said this festival began in the 1920s and has blossomed over the years to include more events.
"We've also improved Art in the Park which is held at the historic Paradise Park on Saturday. We have a BMX show down there this year. More food and craft vendors than we've ever had before so that's going to be a really fun event," said Baggett.
Baggett explained there will also be an opportunity to meet and take a picture with a unicorn.
