Update: Charges against Kellen Bell for threatening to kill an 11-year-old girl have been dropped, according to court documents. Bell, who is a registered sex offender, still remains on probation related to a 2012 child pornography arrest.

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee man has been arrested for violating probation, accused of threatening a young girl.

Kellen Bell was originally arrested in 2012 for possession of child pornography.

An 11-year-old girl told Leon County Sheriff's deputies that Bell had followed her home from school on several occasions. Most recently the victim said he had driven along side of the school bus and held up a note that said "I will kill you," and then drove away.

Psychology experts say that this kind of repeat offense behavior can be common in sex offender cases.

"Unfortunately it is common because what happens is you can be locked up but you need to be treated at the same time. The unfortunate thing is that we don't have that many skilled people to do the treatment and then you have a patient or a perpetrator like this who doesn't have access to treatment, so the likelihood of re-occurrence is extremely high," said psychotherapist Jane Marks.

Bell remains behind bars at the Leon County Jail.
