DENVER (AP) — Records show a 17-year-old girl who was shot and killed by Denver police while driving a stolen car was previously accused of eluding a police officer and resisting arrest.
Court records obtained Friday by The Associated Press show Jessica Hernandez was cited on Jan. 1 for speeding down a highway north of Denver in her mother's car.
The records show her driver's license had been revoked.
The documents also say Hernandez was driving 80 mph in a 55 mph zone but does not give other details.
Hernandez's uncle, Alberto Hernandez, referred questions to an attorney who didn't immediately return a call.
Police say two officers shot Hernandez on Monday after she drove a stolen car toward one of them in a residential alley. The shooting sparked protests and demands for a special prosecutor.
