(WTXL) — The Social Security Administration may soon start to look at your Facebook and Instagram posts for disability claims.

The federal agency currently uses social media to investigate fraud causes. However, in its 2020 budget proposal, it is planning to expand that usage.

According to the proposal, the agency is asking to use social media to review and evaluate applicants for disability benefits, even though there hasn't been word yet on how it will use social media to do that.

WRIC reports that even though the Social Security Administration hasn't outlined how it might use social media in screening applicants, the proposal is raising data privacy concerns.
