TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Museum of Florida History will host their annual summer vacation event, "Flip Flop Florida - My Summer Vacation,” on Thursday, August 15.
The evening kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with live music by Capital City Steel Band, catered food from Tropical Smoothie, and a chance for a summer themed photo opportunity.
At 7:00 p.m. Tallahassee Democrat columnist Mark Hinson will deliver an eccentric recollection of summer vacations from Panama City Beach. Journalist and humorist Mark Hinson is a fifth generation Floridian from Marianna. He's also a graduate of University of Florida and Florida State University, Hinsons writes a weekly column for the Tallahassee Democrat titled: “For Amusement Purposes Only.”
Attendees are asked to wear their best tropical shirt and hat and slip into some flip flops for this festive event which is free to the public. Tropical Smoothie provides a summer supper for $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
The Museum of Florida History is located in the R. A. Gray building at 500 South Bronough Street in downtown Tallahassee.
The Flip Flop Florida event isn't the only opportunity to visit the museum during the evening. This tradition continues monthly every third Thursday. For every event, the program, music, and parking are free.
