TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is calling on Governor Rick Scott to declare a State of Emergency over Florida's "Stand Your Ground" Law.
On Saturday, a funeral service was held for the central Florida man, killed in a "Stand Your Ground" shooting.
Markeis McGlockton, 28, was shot on July 19 outside a convenience store in Clearwater. The shooter, 47-year-old Michael Drejka, has not been charged in his death, protected under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law.
"There is chaos & confusion over “Stand Your Ground” here in Florida," Gillum wrote on Twitter.
There is chaos & confusion over “Stand Your Ground” here in Florida. Today I’m calling on Governor Rick Scott to declare a State of Emergency over this law, which is being used by vigilantes to turn themselves into judge, jury and executioner.

Mayor Gillum spoke about the law at a town hall meeting in Clearwater on Sunday, where he called for a repeal of the law.
"If we think, just for a moment had the shoes been reversed. Just for a moment had the shoes been reversed. It doesn't take a Ph.D. or a dissertation to make this point," said Gillum. "We all wake up, we live, we breathe in America, and we know that based off the color of my skin I present a certain level of threat, a certain level of threat that might cause someone to have the power to snuff out my life or my children's lives."
Gillum is running for governor of Florida. He said if elected, he would declare a State of Emergency, if Governor Scott fails to do so.
Stand Your Ground has created a state of emergency in Florida. That's why I'm calling on Governor Scott to issue an Executive Order suspending the law. If he won't, when I'm Governor, I will.#MarkeisMcGlockton #EnoughIsEnough #NeverAgain pic.twitter.com/V1E7JLztnf
