TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Hundreds are expected to join a march in the Capitol City on Thursday to restore voting rights to Florida felons.
Generations and backgrounds will cross Thursday for the Unity March as hundreds team up to advocate for multiple civil rights issues.
Organizers tell me this march seeks to bring everyone in the community together, not tear it apart.
Leading that march is Bethel Pastor R.B. Holmes, attorney Ben Crump, and Rev. Al Sharpton.
The march is being put on by the National Action Network. It is a non-profit civil rights organization founded by Sharpton.
Holmes, the president of the local chapter, said this march is to push the state to vote for Amendment 4, which would restore civil and voting rights for 1.6 million former Florida felons.
They will also adress guns in schools, the midterm election, and preogress made in Tallahassee since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Anyone interested in participating can meet at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. and, from there, march to the Capitol.
