Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of Valdosta Teen

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Valdosta teen.

Eric Simmons was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony during a trial in Lowndes County on Wednesday. 

Police say that Simmons shot Damaria Hill on August 16th, 2015 in Valdosta; Hill died in the hospital the following Monday.

Simmons was 18 at the time of the incident. 

He faces life in prison plus 5 years for the possession of a firearm.
