Man Sentenced For Stealing Money From Thomasville High Band

THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - A man who stole over $45,000 from the Thomasville High School Band Boosters has been handed down a prison sentence.

James Deryl Ouzts, who was the band booster's treasurer, stole over $45,000 that had been raised for the band's trip to Washington, D.C. to perform at the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.

According to the Thomas County Court, Ouzts was sentenced to 15 years, two of which he will have to spend in confinement and 13 years on probation.

The court says that he will also have to pay a $3,000 fine as well as 200 community service hours and a restitution of $44,548.60.
