Man killed in fiery car crash near Adams Beach

TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say a 78-year-old man was killed in Perry Monday night after his car hit a tree, overturned, and burst into flames.

The Florida Highway Patrol says that the accident happened on Monday around 10:45 p.m. 

They say 78-year-old Frank Riston from The Villages, Florida was traveling southwest on Beach Road when he failed to turn with a curve where Adams Beach Road intersects. 

The car then traveling on the shoulder where it went into the woods and crashed head-on with a large tree. After the inital impact, the car spun around counterclockwise as it overturned onto its right side.

FHP says the car somehow caught fire and was engulfed in flames. The Taylor County Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire.

Riston was pronounced dead on scene.
