LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office Thursday night after hitting and shooting his sister's boyfriend with an AR rifle.

Robert Rought, 41, was arrested by LCSO on Thursday.

Thursday night around 8:55 p.m., deputies responded to a call on Sweet Grass Lane in regards to a shooting.

After interviewing witnesses on scene, deputies determined Rought and the victim got into a verbal argument inside the home about paying bills because of the victims's criminal past.

LCSO says during the dispute, Rought hit the victim in the head with the stock end of an AR rifle and then shot the victim multiple times.

Both the victim and Rought live at the home on Sweet Grass Lane.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Rought is being held in the Leon County Jail on $50,000 bond.

He is being charged with attempted second degree murder.
