GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County deputies have arrested a man accused of attempted rape, aggravated assault and robbery at a Quincy church.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says that on Nov. 15, they responded to the House of Worship on Atlanta Street in Quincy about the crime.

A victim said at around 4 p.m., she was finishing up cleaning the church and began locking all the doors. One of those doors had two locks, one to lock the inside and one to lock the outside.

At the time, the victim said that she didn't have the outside key, so she only locked the inside. While doing so, the victim noticed a man began walking towards her with a shovel.

The woman tried to close the door, but the man came inside and pushed her before closing the door. Once the door was closed, the man pushed her into a wall and asked her for her wallet.

The victim said the man told her that if she didn't give him money, he would rape her. Deputies say that the woman managed to fight the man off but he was able to reach around and take her money and cellphone.

Through an investigation, deputies were able to find the suspect, Brandon Moore. Moore was interviewed and admitted the crimes, leading to his arrest.

He was charged with strong-armed robbery, robbery, aggravated battery, attempted sexual battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was booked at the Gadsden County Jail.

“Our Criminal Investigations Division got another good arrest and we refuse to have the citizens of Gadsden County subjected to this type criminal behavior," said Sheriff Morris Young. "I’m just glad we got him off the streets!”
