TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department was dispatched to the Sears at 1500 Apalachee Parkway on Wednesday, August 9 in regards to two chainsaws from the store being stolen.
The Consolidated Dispatch Agency had received a call from a Sears store employee, who reported a male had been seen leaving the store without paying for the chainsaws and was currently hiding in the brush line near Blairstone Road.
The man was identified as Robert Burke.
Soon after TPD arrived on scene, Burke was seen running further into the woods. TPD, LCSO K-9, the LCSO helicopter, and additional patrol units started searching for the suspect.
After Burke was found and given a clear command to surrender by officers. He refused to comply and was subsequently arrested after being bitten by the K-9 dog.
The suspect was provided immediate medical care on scene and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries related to the dog bite.
Once cleared from the hospital, Burke will be taken to the Leon County Jail for processing.
Burke is facing the following charges:
- Grand Theft
- Resisting an Officer Without Violence
