NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Two men have suffered minor shark bites in central Florida waters.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Capt. Tammy Marris says the men were in waist-deep waters off New Smyrna Beach when they were bitten Saturday.

Marris tells The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/18MWj1U ) that the men were bitten within a minute of each other. Both men described a shark roughly 3-feet long but it wasn't clear if the same shark bit each man.

Marris says a 25-year-old Oviedo resident suffered a bite on a shin, and a 43-year-old New Smyrna Beach resident suffered a bite to a feet. Both men went to the hospital for treatment.

Of the 30-plus shark bites since 2009 in Volusia and Flagler counties, 70 percent of them have occurred in New Smyrna Beach.
