TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 59-year-old high risk sex offender in Tallahassee has been charged with grand theft after she attempted to buy three Rolex watches worth over $30,000 with a fraudulent credit card.

Jamie Caloway, 59, was arrested over the weekend for grand theft over $20,000.

On Feb. 22, court documents say Caloway went into The Gem Collection on Thomasville Road and attempted to buy three Rolex watches valued at $31,762.58 with a fraudulent credit card. The card declined, and Caloway left without the watches, saying she would return the next day after sorting out the issue.

According to employees at the store, Caloway never returned. Suspecting that the situation was suspicious, documents say the employees reported it to a Leon County deputy.

Through an investigation, deputies were able to connect the card to a Chase Bank business account. They learned that the card was issued on a Flightline Group Inc. business account that had been fraudulently opened in another person's name.

After reviewing surveillance footage and confirming Caloway's identity, deputies found probable cause to charge her with grand theft. She is being held in jail on a $2,500 bond.

According to court documents, Caloway is listed as a high risk sex offender. FDLE records indicate Caloway was convicted in 2000 for multiple child sex offenses, including statutory rape and enticing a child for incident purposes.
