Winn-Dixie parent company reverses course, will require masks at all stores

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Jacksonville-based grocery store company just announced that it will require customers and employees to wear masks starting Monday, July 27.

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, BI-LO and Harveys Supermarkets said. on Monday that it is reversing course and will require shoppers to wear masks in its stores.

This is an abrupt change as they had been standing firm on not having the policy.

On Thursday, July 16 the company released a statement saying they would not require masks to be worn inside their stores during the pandemic to avoid "undue friction" between customers and staffers. On Monday, the company said its position evolved after listening to customer feedback.
