JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — One person has died and multiple people were injured in a crash on I-10 in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP says two cars drove under a semi-truck on I-10 westbound near the 219 mile marker sometime around 12:15 p.m.

The crash started when traffic was stopped because of a construction zone ahead. A car hit the back of another and both went under a stopped semi-truck with a flatbed trailer. The driver of the lead car that went under the semi's trailer was pronounced dead at the scene.

One person is in critical condition, four people are in serious condition and one person had minor injuries in the crash.

FHP is heading the investigation and is being assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Jefferson County EMS.
