TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the tap of your finger, you can now access every tourist destination in Leon County.

Visit Tallahassee has a new, free mobile app for exploring the Big Bend area.

Karri Post, the Director of Visit Tallahassee is excited to show off the new website and app to the community.

"There's some great features, in addition to listings of all the things there are to see and do," Post said. "Dining options, entertainment and events."

"It really brings the beauty and the fun and excitement of Tallahassee, and puts it in the palm of their hand."

Post says she is most excited for this week’s website and app launch because she knows how important tourism is to the county’s development.

Nearly 2.5 million visitors came to Tallahassee last year.

"Tourism generated more than a billion dollars in economic impact," said Post. "So tourism is very important."

One of Tallahassee’s must-see destinations is the Challenger Learning Center. Seeing the online and mobile development gets Michelle Personette, the Executive Director of Challenger Learning Center, excited for what this means for the future of her business.

"This is fantastic," said Personette. "Not only does this app allow visitors but it also allows residents to get to know Tallahassee a little bit better."

She hopes it will drive more people through the doors at the Challenger Learning Center.

"Especially if someone is downtown already," Personette said. "Then the Challenger Learning Center will pop up and maybe they will add us to their visit."

Post said that developing this app was a no brainer after she noticed more than 70 percent of people who go to Visit Tallahassee's website do it from their phone. The app is free to download on all Apple and Android devices.
