Crawfordville man killed in motorcycle crash in Wakulla County

SOPCHOPPY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 65-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Wakulla County on Thursday.

Henry Griffin, 65, of Crawfordville died from his injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 1:18 p.m. on Lawhon Mill Road.

Griffin was traveling southbound on Lawhon Mill Road and entered a left hand curve, when for unknown reasons, he left the roadway and drove onto the shoulder, overturning in a ditch. Griffin and the passenger on the motorcycle became separated from the motorcycle as they came to rest on the shoulder of the road and ditch.

Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the motorcycle sustained minor injuries in the accident.

FHP was assisted by Wakulla County Sheriff Office, Wakulla County Fire, and Wakulla EMS.

Charges are pending a Traffic Homicide Investigation.


The Florida Highway Patrol says a fatal crash has shut down Lawhon Mill Road in Wakulla County.

Troopers responded to the crash around 1:37 p.m. on Thursday. At least one person has died in the crash.

A portion of Lawhon Mill Road near Cheri Lane has been reopened as troopers investigate and work to clear the crash.

At this time, it's unknown how many people were involved in the crash.
