TPD: No arrests made in stabbing in Piggly Wiggly parking lot, investigation ongoing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department is releasing additional details about a stabbing that happened in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly store Monday afternoon.

Police say the stabbing happened around 4:08 p.m. Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly on South Monroe Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered that a man had been stabbed and immediately provided medical attention.

During the investigation, officers learned an altercation between two men led to the stabbing. Police say the men knew each other.

One of the men who sustained minor injuries in the incident ran away after the fight while the other was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Eventually, officers found the man who ran away and questioned him about the incident.

TPD says they interviewed both people involved as well as witnesses and have not made any arrests at this time. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed both parties were armed with knives. They say they incident was "mutual in nature."
