TPD patrol car crashes into cafe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee police car crashed into Serenity Coffee and Kava Bar late Wednesday night.

According to a spokesperson for the Tallahassee Police Department, the crash occurred just before 10 p.m. The police officer was responding to a call when a crash occurred with a civilian car, ultimately causing the patrol car to crash into the side of the cafe.

A Honda Civic traveling west on All Saints Street, approaching Railroad Ave. came to a complete stop at the intersection. The driver continued forward into the intersection, pulling out in front of a marked TPD patrol car, traveling north on Railroad Ave.

The patrol vehicle struck the Honda Civic and then hit the sign of Serenity, located at 915 Railroad Ave.

The officer was transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The driver of the Honda civic did not report any injuries

The investigation is active. Anyone who witnessed the crash contact but did not speak with officers at the scene is asked to contact Traffic Homicide Investigators at 850-891-4356.
