TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A 17-year-old girl arrested in connection to a deadly shooting at The Hub apartments in July 2019 has been indicted by the Leon County Grand Jury for murder.

Rrionna Godwin was indicted by the Leon County Grand Jury on Tuesday.

Godwin was charged with felony murder with a firearm and possession of a gun by a delinquent. Now, the teen will face charges as an adult.

She is facing charges for her role in a drug deal gone wrong at The Hub apartments in Tallahassee on July 10, 2019.

During the drug deal, investigators say Godwin and her male friend, Jabari Gilbert, robbed Robert Simmons, Jr.

Out of retaliation, Simmons got a gun from his home and shot Godwin and Gilbert, as they tried to leave the complex.

Godwin sustained non-life-threatening injuries but Gilbert died from his injuries. Probable cause was found to charge Godwin with felony murder due to her involvement in the botched drug transaction, that led to the death of the victim.

Godwin's trial has been set for May 4.

Simmons, Jr. was also indicted by the Leon County Grand Jury for premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder. He's due in court for a case management hearing on April 15.
