SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Taylor and Suwannee County public schools are closing ahead of inclement weather brought on by Hurricane Eta.

Both school districts announced Wednesday that school is canceled on Thursday.

"Due to the late changes in the forecast regarding Hurricane Eta, the continued unpredictability of the direction of this storm, and potential impacts of an arriving storm into the day tomorrow, the Suwannee County School District is canceling school for Thursday, November 12," school officials wrote in a social media post.

Suwannee County schools will reopen for regular operations on Friday, November 13. As of right now, Taylor County officials say school is expected to be held on Friday as well.

Parents are asked to monitor social media or contact your teacher for additional information, should conditions and circumstances change.
