TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — A sailor who was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor was finally reunited with his family and laid to rest here in Tallahassee on Friday.

Earl Baum was just 19 when he died, but his remains weren't identified until a few months ago.

Friday afternoon, his family was joined by veterans, elected officials and others at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.

"It really means everything to me, because it's a closure. I've been looking for him for a long time," said Emily Golz, sister of Earl Baum.

Governor DeSantis and the First Lady met with the family and offered gifts to remember Earl.

They also received tokens from Congressmen Dunn and Lawson and a note signed by President Trump.

For some people, they said they wanted to be here to honor a man who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"Our country will go to whatever extent necessary to bring an American serviceman home, and I'm just so very honored and proud to be here today and be a part of this service," said Major John Haynes. "We want to remember it as a family. We got to have four generations here, and they hear the story, and that's why they're all here."
