TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Festivities are happening all over, including in the Capital City and if you want to usher in the New Year Tuesday night with your neighbors, head downtown.

There's going to be food, music, and of course it's not a New Year's celebration without the fireworks.

Preparations are underway for Countdown Downtown.

There's a lot of different things happening Monday night.

Local favorites The Fried Turkeys and Tallahassee Nights Live will be on the stage with live music and then there's the fireworks displays.

The first one starts 6:30 p.m. and if you don't make it in time to catch that one, there's another at 9:45 p.m.

The city says it's a safe alternative to celebrating at home.

"If you like fireworks, which most of us do, this is going to be a very safe environment," said Dianne Williams-Cox, Tallahassee Mayor Pro Tem. "We're going to have professionals who know what they're doing. And for public safety, Tallahassee's finest will be there to make sure there's no interruption to our celebration."

People will start showing up at about 6 p.m.

It all wraps up at 10 p.m. in case you want to keep the celebration going somewhere else downtown.
