TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — It's the final countdown. Not just for the New Year, but also to donate to a local partnership, joined for a major cause.

In its first year, the Red Eye Coffee and Elder Care Services partnership provides seniors with everything they need to get through the winter.

They collected donations leading up to Christmas, and they're teaming up again to provide more necessities by December 31.

Elder Care CEO Josie Fliger says clothing donations actually aren't the best. They need blankets, towels, slippers, socks, and heaters.

"So, we're looking for blankets, towels, slippers, socks," said Fliger. "Not more clothes beyond that. Just because it's hard for us, we're not really a clothing closet. Red Eye will still be a collection site through the end of the month in case others still have donations they want to get to us."

In addition to serving as a drop-off location, Red Eye Coffee is also matching each monetary donation, to supply as many items as possible to those who need them most.

"If people aren't able to come to the store or drop off items that they need, they can actually go to our website, and on there they can click a button to donate money," said Daniela Vintimilla, the manager at Red Eye Coffee. "Red Eye will be matching any monetary donations. And we're just very excited to be able to support them and get what they need."

Help spread the love and warmth this holiday season by dropping off donations to any Red Eye Coffee location. Heater donations can be left at the Elder Care offices.
