GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A Quincy man is dead after troopers say he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree in Gadsden County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:42 p.m. Sunday on Sawdust Road.

They say Allen Lugo, 22, died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Troopers say Lugo was driving down Sawdust Road when he failed to negotiate a turn, which caused him to lose control of the wheel. Lugo's car then ran off the road and hit a tree.

After crashing into the tree, Lugo was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Lugo was not wearing a seat belt and FHP is investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Gretna Police Department, Gretna Fire Department, Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, and Gadsden County EMS.
