TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A Tallahassee man is behind bars after officers say he went into a hotel, held a knife to a man's throat and attempted to rob him.

According to Tallahassee Police, officers responded to Suburban Extended Stay on Silver Slipper Lane in regards to a robbery that occurred in May 2018.

When officers arrived on scene, they immediately began speaking with the victim about what had occurred. The victim told officers that he was inside the office checking in the hotel when 34-year-old Bryan Harden came behind him and put a knife to his throat.

Documents say Harden held the knife to the victim's throat while demanding money from him. The victim then threw his money behind the counter and attempted to grab the knife from Harden. Both Harden and the victim began fighting over control of the knife and while they were fighting, the blade to the knife broke, causing Harden to fall to the ground.

After Harden fell, investigators say he immediately got up and left the hotel. Officers say after speaking to the victim, he was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for injuries he suffered while fighting with Harden.

Officers also spoke with witnesses who confirmed the victim's story and added that they also saw Harden enter the hotel wearing a black mask.

During the investigation, officers were able to obtain surveillance footage from the hotel and watch Harden attempt to rob the victim. Weeks after the incident, investigators were told that the victim had received eight stitches as a result of a cut on his hand.

In October, officers were able to link Harden to the crime through a suspected blood sample on the front officer door.

According to court documents, Harden was finally arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Center on Tuesday. He is being charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery.

Harden is being held on a $35,000 bond.
