VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — Better Way Products, an Indiana based fiberglass company, is expanding to the Azalea City Business Park.

The company is taking over the former Robalo building. The expansion has more than one benefit for the Lowndes County economy.

Construction is still underway for the new manufacturing plant for Better Way Products, but the company plans to have parts of the facility running by Monday, April 1.

The Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority expects 86 jobs to be created over the next three years. The jobs include general labor, assembling, packaging, and administrative support. I'm told the average starting pay is between $17 and $18 an hour.

Part of the good news for Lowndes County is that Better Way Products is taking over a building that has been vacant for 10 years and is investing $750,000 in equipment and property. The executive director of the development authority says this move is a sign that larger corporations are willing to choose Lowndes County and Valdosta.

"The most important thing is it means jobs opportunities for the people that live here in our region," said Andrea Schruijer, the executive director of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority. "It helps revitalize the area, it helps keep the building looking nice and neat and great in our industrial park."

Better Way Products provided a statement about their move to Lowndes County:

Now, not all 86 jobs will be available right away. Better Way Products is trying to hire 20 to 30 employees right now. If you would like to apply, you can send your application to Kthornton@betterwaypartners.com.
