MOULTRIE, Ga. — Firefighters in Moultrie are no strangers to severe weather, but want to make sure people in the area know they’re nearby to help in case of emergency.

Firefighters spent most of Thursday loading up their trucks with tools they may need to help with storm cleanup. The department also has extra crews on hand to assist with any emergencies that might occur.

Moultrie's Fire Chief, Jeff Thibodeau, says being prepared for anything is a must when it comes to dealing with storms.

“If it gets really bad, we will call in more people,” Thibodeau said. “And if it gets really, really bad then we will call in Georgia search and rescue task force too. They have members from multiple departments in the surrounding southwest Georgia and would come in and supplement us and give us additional help."

Thibodeau says that Moultrie is a very strong community, and he is confident that whatever happens tonight, there will a tomorrow.
