HAVANA, Fl. (WTXL) — The Hope Harvest Food Pantry held a farm share drive thru distribution this morning outside of Metropolitan Cathedral in Havana, Florida. It was not just for Gadsden County residents but anyone who needed some pantry items.

The pantry, which is a USDA designated agency, was established in 2016. The pantry partners with Farm Share and Second Harvest as it's food sources. They also receive donations from community members for retail shopping.

Karusha Sharpe says distributions have been going on for several years with the drive thru beginning in March. "We generally distribute on the third Saturday of each month," Sharpe said. "Some months, like Martin Luther King, we'll have volunteer groups who want to come and host separate distributions in January. And we also provide a limited delivery service, and we will meet people by appointment if they need food before our regular distribution."

While Sharpe explained that the USDA food can only go to Gadsden County locals, the farm share can distribute the other food to anyone in the Big Bend.
