MADISON, Fla. (WTXL) — Police say a fist fight over a bicycle led to the fatal shooting of a former Madison County Cowboy football player over the weekend.

Investigators with Madison Police Department, along with FDLE agents, arrested De’Vante Jaquan Washington, 25, of Madison for homicide after the shooting death of 23-year-old Quantavious Damariuse Wilson.

Investigators say Washington and another man got into a physical fight over a bicycle just before 9 a.m. Saturday morning in Madison Heights. They say Wilson stepped in to break up the fight.

After the fight ended, Washington left, grabbed a gun and shot Wilson, who died at the scene. Washington ran away but later turned himself into the police station around 3:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

He was booked into the Madison County Jail and additional charges are pending. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 3rd Judicial Circuit.
