TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested a man in connection to the robbery of a Dollar Tree in January.

TPD responded to Dollar Tree located at 1400 Village Square Boulevard, in reference to a commercial burglary on Jan. 28, the department said.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the office had been ransacked and the safe broken into.

After gathering information, TPD officers determined a possible suspect and vehicle description.

Then, the suspect's vehicle was found at a local hotel, and with assistance from the United States Marshals' Task Force, the suspect was taken into custody on an active warrant from Austin, Texas.

A search warrant for the hotel room found several pieces of evidence including cash, clothing and electronics, TPD said in a release.

TPD identified the suspect as 57-year-old Gerard John Ricasolo, Jr., and charged him with burglary, possession of burglary tools, grand theft, criminal mischief over $1,000, and possession of cocaine.

TPD investigators said they believe the arrest prevented the suspect from engaging in further criminal activity in the city.
