VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — A Lowndes County 8th grader donated more than $5,000 to the South Georgia Medical Center Foundation on Monday in memory of a family member who passed away recently from breast cancer, the foundation announced in a Facebook post.
Tori Millirons, a 13-year-old 8th grader at Hahira Middle School presented the SGMC Foundation with a $5,140.10 check on Dec. 21., the post said.
Millirons earned the money she donated by selling her Grand Champion pig at the Lowndes Area Market Hog Show.
According to a Facebook post from the SGMC Foundation, Millirons chose to donate all proceeds to benefit breast cancer patients at the SGMC Pearlman Cancer Center in memory of her family member Sharon Boykin, who passed away the night of the show from breast cancer.
