BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. — A Brooks County woman is in jail, facing several counts of felony charges after what authorities are calling an "extreme" case of animal cruelty.

The Brooks County Sheriff's Office arrested 72-year-old Brenda Sutton after getting a call about the strong odor of dead animals at her home on Oliff Road.

Nearly two dozen dogs and cats were found inside the home. Authorities had to wear hazmat suits to enter the house, calling it a hoarding situation. 17 dead dogs and cats were found inside and four more outside.

Sutton's bond is $60,000 and she can not have any contact with animals.
