Leon County Sheriff's office investigating storm-related death

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Sheriff's office confirms that a man died Thursday evening after being hit by a falling tree.

Thursday evening, just before 7 p.m., LCSO deputies responded to a call regarding a tree that had fallen on someone.

They say it happened in a wooded area in the 3400 block Acadain Boulevard off Mahan Drive. When they arrived, deputies discovered a deceased man on scene.

They say the victim was hit by a pine tree about 16 inches in diameter. A second person on scene sustained minor injuries in the incident.

LCSO is investigating the incident as a storm-related death.
