(WTXL) — Two Big Bend residents, one from Leon County and one from Gadsden County, have tested positive for the coronavirus in other states, according to a local health official.

Florida Department of Health-Leon received notification Monday that a 59-year-old woman from Leon County has not been cleared to return to her home state.

Local health officials say they've been told the woman is one of Florida’s repatriated cases, meaning she was not diagnosed and isolated in Florida.

The Florida Department of Health also reported that a 54-year-old Gadsden County man has tested positive for the coronavirus in another unspecified state. As of Tuesday, he has not been cleared to return back to Florida.

Health officials say both tested positive after traveling to Japan. State officials confirmed the two had contact with someone else who had COVID-19 before being diagnosed.

FDOH has not said where in the U,S. the patients are currently located or when they will be taken back to Florida.

As of Tuesday, Leon County nor Gadsden County have had any confirmed cases of COVID-19 locally.
