Jefferson County reports three positive cases of COVID-19

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Jefferson County received confirmation of two their first two positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

According to the Florida Department of Health, the persons ill with the virus are a 33-year-old woman and a 93-year-old woman.

Both are isolated and one is receiving care in the hospital.

A third case was also confirmed in a 76-year-old man over the weekend.

FDOH says the man has been isolated and is receiving care in the hospital.

The Florida Department of Health in Jefferson County is now conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period.

Contact investigations are a critical way for staff epidemiologists to track and prevent the spread of disease.

A total of 34 tests have been processed for Jefferson County, from private and public labs with 31 negative results

At this time, we don't know if these are travel related cases.
