JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway Patrol says an 85-year-old man from Alford is dead and another injured after a two-car collision south of Marianna on Thursday morning.

According to the report, the man from Alford was traveling westbound on County Road 280 (Thompson Road) in a truck as a tractor-trailer traveled southbound on State Road 73.

The driver of the truck failed to stop at the posted stop sign, traveling into the intersection, and colliding with the left side of the tractor-trailer driven by a 49-year-old man from Bonifay.

FHP said due to the crash, the man driving the truck was ejected, coming to final rest on the northbound paved shoulder. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS.

The report says the collision also caused the tractor-trailer to overturn. It came to rest on the northbound paved shoulder.

FHP sais the man driving the tractor-trailer was transported to Ascension Sacred Herat Bay in Panama City in serious condition.
