TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Calling the announcement "equal parts exhilarating and heartbreaking," the owner of Hot Yoga Tallahassee says the business will be announcing a new name, website and pricing menu on January 1.

In a newsletter, Hot Yoga Tallahassee owner Brittani Whittington shared heartfelt sentiments about her decision to change the name of the business following a shooting on November 2, 2018 that killed two people.

"What we have overcome as a community over the past year has simply been unbelievable. A year ago I thought our place of healing would disappear," she wrote in the newsletter. "I thought we would all dissolve away from one another and move on to other spaces."

The owner admitted that she'd been having trouble processing the fallout following the shooting, saying that the stress of it all has had a profound impact on her life.

"I will forever tie my miscarriage to the stress of the lawsuit, the lawsuit to the shooting, and the shooting to those 3 words: Hot Yoga Tallahassee," the newsletter read.

While she came close to walking away, Brittani instead decided to rebrand with a new name, website and pricing menu.

"So I understand there may be an array of emotions to this change," she wrote. "I hope you will be able to meet me on the other side of light though and welcome this new season with us.

The company will announce their new changes on January 1, 2020.
