ST. GEORGE ISLAND, FL (WTXL) - — It's not just the restaurants happy to see people returning to the coast. Homeowners in Franklin County say they're grateful to be making money again.
We first told you last week how Collins Rentals owner, Alice Collins, wrote a letter to Governor DeSantis, asking for him to loosen restrictions. The governor did so earlier this week. Ed Moore, who rents out property through the company, says he's booked through August. He is among the many homeowners who couldn't be happier to see people back again.
"It's a little more than normal. Normally it would be one week open here or there but I think people are finding the beach is the place to go," said Moore. "They're not going to be doing cruises for a while. They're not going to be flying overseas. Bring your family to the beach and have a good time."
Collins Rentals manages more than 250 properties on the island. Moore says they're also following all social distancing and CDC guidelines, like remote check-in and extra sanitizing.
