TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — What originally started from an idea of a food truck, turned into something more.
Thursday marked the grand opening of the Gilliam Sisters Soul Food Restaurant.
Offering brunch and dinner, the Gilliam Sisters and the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce welcomed the entire community to join in on the celebration that also marked the birthday of their grandmother.
Many generations of the Gilliams have created businesses and opportunities for employment within Tallahassee.
"It brings us joy. That's what our grandparents did. That's what they showed us. That's what our mom did and what our father is still doing today. Our aunts and uncles, that's what they're doing. They serve the community. It's about service. It's about family. It's about legacy," said Kobayashi Gilliam, the co-owner of the Gilliam Sisters Soul
