TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A bill that would've legalized recreational marijuana in Florida has died without a hearing, debate or vote.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, House Bill 1117, which was sponsored by Rep. Michael Grieco and Orlando Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith, did not get a hearing from the Florida Legislature.

The bill would've allowed people 21 and older to purchase and use limited amounts of marijuana in their homes or other private places.

Smith told the Orlando Sentinel that the bill died without a hearing, debate or vote. However, he says the bill at least created "discussion and dialogue," despite not passing.
