FHP: One dead, two critically injured after weekend crash in Suwannee County

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers are investigating after a driver was killed and two others were critically injured during a crash over the weekend in Suwannee County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around Sunday around 7:49 p.m. on County Road 136 west of 133 Road.

FHP says a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford Expedition were both heading westbound on CR-136.

For reasons still being investigated, the vehicles made contact which caused both vehicles to travel off the the roadway.

Troopers say the Ford then crashed into a tree and overturned.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet overturned and crashed into a tree and a fence.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as 32-year-old Jacob Grant. FHP says Grant was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver and passenger who were inside the Ford have not been identified but were transported to the UF Health hospital with critical injuries.

Authorities found that neither drivers was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

FHP is investigating to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident.
