TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Family members confirm to ABC 27 that a 12-year-old boy was hit by stray gunfire during a Wednesday night shooting on Holton Street.

On Thursday, family members told ABC 27 that the 12-year-old, identified by family as R.J. Addison, was taking the trash out with his little sister when he was caught in the gunfire of the shooting, a stray bullet hitting him in the cheek.

They said the boy is in surgery now and is expected to be okay.

The shooting occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2500 block of Holton Street, in the same area as an officer-involved shooting in late May.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, two victims, the 12-year-old and a 27-year-old man, were hurt in the shooting though both are being treated and are expected to recover.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and have not released any further information.

Tallahassee Police Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the shooting to please call 850-891-4200.

They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.

This is a developing story.
