Deputies respond to possible threat near Liberty County school

LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Liberty County deputies responded to possible threat near W.R. Tolar School on Friday morning.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a report from staff at W.R. Tolar School student had heard a noise behind the school campus which sounded similar to a gunshot on Friday morning.

The School Resource Deputy on campus immediately responded to the area and student activities were restricted outside the buildings.

LCSO says additional deputies responded to the area to investigate.

During the investigation, deputies was determined that a resident who lives behind the Tolar School campus had hit an object with a hammer, creating the noise which was similar to the sound of a gunshot.

Authorities say there is no threat to Tolar School at this time and student activities have returned to normal.
