FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who they say nearly drove off with a 16-year-old girl he exposed himself to.
FCSO says the incident happened on Tuesday, but the family of the victim didn't report the incident until the next day. They say it happened near Carrabelle.
Deputies say the 16-year-old victim missed the school bus that morning and called her mother to tell her what happened.
That's when the a unknown man in a Chevy truck approached the victim and offered to give her a ride to school. The victim accepted and while he was giving the teen a ride home, he exposed himself to her.
The victim told deputies that the man then asked the victim to show him her private parts. While they were driving, the mother spotted the man's truck with the victim in the front seat, stopped the car, and pulled her daughter out of the truck.
The man then drove away from the area.
FCSO says the the victim is safe now, but still is "completely terrified" from what occurred during the incident.
"Most kids have a cell phone, if someone tries to get you into a truck, scream, fuss, fight, cause a commotion. Do not get in a vehicle with someone you do not know," said Sheriff A.J. Smith.
The suspect is described as being a white man between 40-45 years old, around 180 pounds with dirty blond hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a Grey long sleeve shirt with blue shorts.
The suspect is driving a green Chevy truck that is possibly a 2000- 2005 model and has faded paint.
Sheriff A.J. Smith says that once the suspect is caught, he will be facing lewd and lascivious charges. If you have any information, you’re asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 670-8500.
