JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Authorities in Jackson County are asking residents to report any packs of dogs in the area after a man was attacked and killed by stray dogs.

On the morning of Wednesday, November 18, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were called to an area off Kirkland Road where a Bascom man was found dead.

After an investigation at the scene and an autopsy, deputies said it was determined that the victim, 65-year-old Donald Ray Allen, had been attacked by dogs and succumbed to injuries.

JCSO said that the evidence collected from the scene and the victim’s clothing has since been sent to the University of Florida for possible DNA identification of the breed of dog that attacked the victim.

They said Jackson County Animal Control has also set multiple traps in the area. Monday afternoon, the sheriff's office shared pictures of a pack of dogs matching the description of the ones seen in the area before attacking Allen.

If anyone has any information on these dogs or see any pack of dogs in the area, you are asked to please contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 482-9648.
