Authorities investigating late night homicide in Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE, Ga.(WTXL) — Officers are investigating a late night shooting that left one person dead in Bainbridge on Wednesday.

Bainbridge Public Safety officers were dispatched to a home at 420 East College Street in reference to shots fired on Wednesday, around 11:25 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene they noticed two vehicles with bullet holes parked behind the house.

As they searched the area around the vehicles, officers found a deceased man lying face down on the ground, along with empty rifle casings and small-caliber handgun rounds in the alley behind the house.

The deceased victim was identified as 28-year-old Alfred Lee Smith, of Bainbridge.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit also responded to work the scene.

Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation.
