TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) — Jiminy Cricket is the newest Leon County Humane Society’s paws calendar contest winner after raising more than $7,000.

Altogether, the contest raised nearly $46,000 for the Humane Society with the final $10,000 raised in the last 30 minutes of the contest.

We’ve been following Jiminy Cricket for months now. He was one of several puppies abandoned outside an animal shelter in Bainbridge.

Now, he's happy, healthy, and loving his new life with brothers and a sister.

“I am happy that he won because I think his story is so emblematic of everything the Humane Society is about," said Shannon Colavecchio, Jiminy’s owner. "His progress and the fact that we saved him would not be possible if not for the Humane Society and the donors that make it possible.”

Colavecchio says Jiminy was in second place the majority of the contest but several donors waited until the end to donate in favor of the rescue pup.

His photo shoot with Black and Hue Photography is on Thursday.

Colavecchio says she bought a figurine of Walt Disney's Jiminy Cricket for the shoot.
